Position Purpose:

Route Driverplay a critical role in the food supply chain by ensuring the timely delivery of goods to customers in perfect condition. They are also the primary representatives of our company, playing a crucial role in establishing strong connections with our clientele

Route Driver is responsible for driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight and drive and drop routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading food and food related products to customers in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Maintains professional communication and interaction with customers, vendors, and colleagues to ensure accurate and timely responses to inquiries.
• Participates actively as a team member within the department and organization, executing tasks as required to best serve the company.
• Performs all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; inspects tractor/truck and trailer to insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed.
• Reporting all safety concerns and required maintenance is a priority.
• Committed to following both DOT guidelines and company driving safety policies.
• Immediately notifies of any safety hazards and inspects the trailer to ensure the freight is loaded and secured correctly.
• Verifies the accuracy of item counts and cross-checks customer invoices for products that have been loaded.
• Verifies and completes in an accurate and clear manner all required documentation associated with freight.
• Advances the tractor to the loading bay and couples the preloaded trailer when needed.
• Delivers customer purchases while adhering to a set delivery schedule and route.
• Transferring goods from the trailer to specified locations for customer storage.
• Performs quality control checks on items, examines scans to verify accuracy, and reports to a supervisor for the removal of orders as per company policies.
• Confirms with customers the reception of items and obtains the required signatures.
• Manages the collection of money, whether in cash or check form, at specified locations. Properly loads customer refunds onto a trailer and secures the trailer doors for the journey.
• Monitors the continuous locking and securing of the tractor, trailer, and load to maintain safety standards.
• Responsibilities consist of unloading faulty products and customer returns, then bringing them to the driver check-in for paperwork completion. Additionally, ensure trailers are clear of trash and unload any necessary equipment and materials.
• Completes daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
• Conducts general cleaning duties in the tractor, loading dock area, and maintains a clutter-free and neat trailer space as specified.
• Finish your shift by securing equipment and completing any necessary paperwork.
• Fulfills other assigned tasks as necessary.

Qualification:

• Twelve months of practical experience as a commercial driver
• The educational prerequisite includes a high school diploma, GED, or a state-approved equivalent as an acceptable alternative
• Valid CDL A
• Adhere to state-specific licensing and certification standards if applicable
• Attaining 21 years of age is a fundamental requirement for this provision
• Request an impeccable driving record for the past three years from the appropriate licensing agency
• Successfully navigate the drug test and criminal background investigation post receiving the offer
• Pass road test
• Carry a valid DOT Health Card or be prepared to secure a new DOT Health Card as per requirements
• Proficient in manually lifting and using two-wheelers, lift gates, and other tools to transport and stack product cases or cargo of different sizes and weights during the shift duration; products generally weigh between 10-35 pounds but may occasionally extend up to approximately 60-90 pounds based on the site
